YOU with a DOULA
24/7, nonstop support
I will be up all night and day with you and never leave your side. In general, if you deliver in a hospital, your doctor is usually with you for 1 hour during delivery and your nurses come in to check on you. They may have other patients and have to switch shifts, because their job isn’t to be your continuous support, as a doula. If you have a midwife they may not be with you until later on in your labor, because their job is not to be your doula but your medical professional (although they are more hands on and relational). With me as your doula you will have continuous support!
Significant other involved
A lot of the time your significant other wants to be of help but doesn’t know how. If that’s the case, I love to encourage them on how to be effectively involved in a way that they can feel confident in what they’re doing to help the labor process and be comforting to the mom. Whether that means simply being attentive and sitting in the room, or actively involved, massaging or letting Mom rest on you during and in between contractions.
Massage Techniques to decrease pain
When you are relaxed, your body releases endorphins that literally mask some of the pain you may be in. Whether you are having back labor or needing a bit of relief from the intensity, being stress free is usually the last thing on your mind as you labor. So allow me to remind you what parts of your body to relax as I use learned massage techniques and release those endorphins for you to have a more enjoyable experience.
When you’re in the middle of labor, your birth dream is not usually in the forefront of your mind, or your significant others. To have someone who isn’t emotionally involved to be able to remind you what you want and why will help you achieve the choices you made for the birth of your child. To have affirmation from someone who is educated will put you at ease.
Change is powerful. It helps progress labor, keeps you more comfortable, helps baby move down quicker and more effectively. I have learned and seen many different effective positions that can help Mom be a more effective laborer!
Baby positioned correctly
Is baby breech, posterior, head not flexed correctly etc.? I’d love to use what I’ve learned and seen work, to encourage your baby to turn. Making it easier for them to do so and therefore, shortening your labor. Nothing medical, just suggested positions.
To make educated decisions, because you have choices. You don’t have to let things be done TO you or your baby by anyone, you are in control. I will help inform you of your options and then support your decision from there.
